Basic Structure of 1:1 Sessions
- The first session is the dog’s assessment, where we discuss owners’ concerns and issues. While they are explaining what the problems are, I assess the dog in terms of behaviour and how they respond towards me. During this time the training will help explain possible causes of “undesirable” behaviour and strategies to practice before the next session.
- The second session, the trainer will provide a “Training plan” which will be explained in depth. This session is a troubleshooting session where clients are given the chance to practice these techniques with the trainer. The trainer will also observe what strategies have been practiced and assist in learning their dogs behaviours and providing appropriate corrections. You will then be left with more exercises to practice before the next session.
- The third session, most likely, owners discovered “new behaviours” because they are changing something in their routine, so dogs are responding differently meaning clients may require some more learnings to understand these behaviours and new training to help rather than confuse the dog. The trainer will observe what has changed and suggest or give new exercises accordingly.
